After a few takes, plenty of laughs, and more than a handful of bloopers, we finally caught up with one of our co-founders, Raghnall, for the latest instalment of our 60 Seconds With... interview series.
While many people know the story of Isle of Skye Candle Company through founder James, fewer know that the business might never have got off the ground without Raghnall's early support.

When asked how his journey with the company began, Raghnall takes us right back to the start. Over 20 years ago, when James had the idea of hand-pouring natural candles on the Isle of Skye, Raghnall backed his brother in a very tangible way by giving him his student loan to help get the business started.
While James focused on building the company in those early years, Raghnall followed a different path, working in another full-time role in Glasgow. It wasn't until six years ago that he officially joined the business as a co-director, bringing with him years of experience and a fresh perspective.
These days, Raghnall jokes that if you asked around the Visitor Centre, the team would probably say his job consists mainly of drinking matchas and going for runs. In reality, his role as Operations Director is much more involved.

"I solve problems, as and before they come up" he says.
Whether it's dealing with challenges as they arise or spotting potential issues before they become problems, Raghnall's focus is on ensuring the business runs smoothly across every area. It's a role that requires adaptability, quick thinking, and a constant awareness of what's happening throughout the company.
When it comes to the best part of the job, the answer comes easily. For Raghnall, it's the people.
His favourite aspect of working at the Isle of Skye Candle Company is interacting with the team every day, catching up with staff, hearing what's happening across departments, and being part of the positive culture that has grown alongside the business.

As for his least favourite task? That would be the van deliveries.
For many years, delivering products to our various shop locations meant spending long hours driving across Scotland. While Raghnall admits it was never his favourite part of the role, there's good news, it's been a very long time since he's had to make those journeys himself.
And finally, no 60 Seconds With... interview would be complete without asking the important question: what's your favourite fragrance?
For Raghnall, the answer is clear: Machair Flowers.
A fragrance inspired by the wildflower-covered machair landscapes of the Scottish coast, it's a fitting choice for someone whose connection to the business stretches all the way back to the very beginning.
From investing his student loan in a dream to helping guide the company as co-director more than two decades later, Raghnall's story is a reminder that great businesses are often built not just on ideas, but on the people who believe in them.
