For the first instalment of our “60 Seconds With…” series, we’re introducing someone many of you may not see day-to-day, but whose work is at the heart of everything we do — our Workshop Manager, Jordan.

Jordan joined Skye Candles over ten years ago, back when we were still based in Broadford — his home village. At the time, a few of his pals were already part of the team and encouraged him to come along for an interview. One conversation with James later, and he had the job.
Like many great journeys, his didn’t start at the top. In the early days, Jordan took on some of the more repetitive (and let’s be honest — slightly tedious!) jobs in the workshop. Glueing wicks down? Still his least favourite task to this day.
But pouring candles? That’s a different story.
What’s now his favourite part of the job is something that made him nervous in the early days. Pouring is a craft that can’t be rushed. It requires patience, focus and a steady hand — something Jordan appreciates about it. He describes it as calming; a moment in the day where you have to slow down and get it just right.
He still remembers pouring his very first candle. Making sure the level was perfect felt like a big responsibility. He recalls carefully pouring in small amounts at a time, nervous about getting it wrong.
Now, more than a decade later, that once-cautious first pour has become one seamless movement — steady, confident and practised.

From glueing wicks to leading the workshop, Jordan’s journey reflects not just his own growth, but the growth of Skye Candles too. And while some things have changed over the years, the care that goes into every single candle remains exactly the same.
Who should we feature next in our “60 Seconds With…” series?
