For our next 60 Seconds With… feature, we’re introducing Calum, a key member of our wholesale team whose journey through the business has come full circle.

Calum’s days are busy and varied, spent connecting with trade customers, taking and packing orders, keeping a close eye on stock levels, and making sure everything is dispatched on time. It’s a role that requires organisation, efficiency, and a friendly touch, qualities Calum brings to it naturally.

His story with us began thanks to a neighbour’s recommendation, leading him to join the team back when the workshop was still based in Broadford. From there, he gained experience in one of our restaurants, building a strong understanding of the wider business. After COVID, Calum moved to Edinburgh to attend university, but Skye, and the team, called him back. Now working in Portree, he’s found his place in wholesale, bringing with him a well-rounded perspective from his time across different departments.

For Calum, the highlight of his role is simple: people. Whether he’s chatting with customers over the phone or meeting them face-to-face at trade shows, he genuinely enjoys building relationships and delivering the best possible service. That connection is what makes the job rewarding and keeps each day interesting.

Like everyone, Calum has a task he’d happily skip if he could. While he appreciates the sustainability behind it, shredding cardboard is not his favourite part of the job. The process of turning recycled cardboard into protective packing material for orders is undeniably useful, but the industrial-sized shredder itself is something he’d rather avoid.

When it comes to fragrance, Calum’s top choice is Chamomile and Cedar. He’s drawn to its balance. The softness of floral notes combined with the depth of woody tones makes it a standout for him, and a scent he keeps coming back to.
